Well, I am writing my first blog! I feel a little awkward as I compose this blog, yet very excited to share a little of myself as I embark on a new chapter of my life. I am thankful for my web designer, Kimberly Watters, KW Graphics and Web, who is helping me officially start this new chapter through my website.

I retired from a twenty year career teaching high school special education in Virginia. I am thankful for this experience as I embark on a new adventure as an artist. Christmas vacation 2017 is when I decided to give pastel painting an honest effort. I gobbled up tons of information online and I truly thirsted for everything pastel. I painted mostly on weekends since then and attended workshops locally.

Since May I have been spending many hours outside and allowing sun, sky, trees, garden tempt and woo me to paint their splendor and mood of the day. I really believe I am obsessed! Due to this obsession I have not weeded my garden which is the star subject of my painting! This new painting career is so wonderful, yet I need to keep a balance with all my responsibilities.

I plan to blog once week; I plan to write honest reflections about my pastel journey or anything that is within the world of art. I hope you enjoy my thoughts as I live my life.
